The BEACH!!!

A couple of days after the Wood grandparents left, Grammy Stoddard got to come visit too!  They had some flight benefits to use, and she was able to miraculously get some time off of work.  Clearly the stars had aligned :) She came into town and we had decided to drive down to see Kathryn and Nick in Jacksonville, NC.  They had just moved and my kids have been begging to see the beach/ocean, and Mom wanted some Whitehead family time whilst on the east coast.  We drove down Friday, spent most of Saturday at the beach, and after church on Sunday we drove back to VA.  A quick trip!  Driving with all 5 babies was a little bit of a mess.  It didn't help that our dvd players were stepped on and thus broken haha.  Despite the rough, 5hr turned 8hr, drives hahaha, we had a really great time and I am so glad we went!  Dallin had to stay behind and do chores/work, but he got a lot of the playset done and I think he quite enjoyed the peace and quiet haha.  Feast yer eyes on the festivities ;)

Grammy's Arrival:

So flipping excited about my Mom's Storyworth book!  She gave it to us as a Mother's Day gift!

Showing Grammy all. the. things.

Lots of happy happy faces

They couldn't wait to show their new beach supplies haha.

Poor Daniel son had been up puking during the night and had puked a few times Friday morning, but we just couldn't cancel.  Before we headed out on the drive we swung by a little end of year homeschool festivity at Lake Witten. (I'm super bummed I didn't take any pictures.)  Well he chugged a capri sun there and it all came up while we were driving!  That was my first ever "kid puking in the car" situation!  Poor kid had it pouring out of his nose because he couldn't lean forward due to the car seat straps :(  Thankfully I heard it coming and was able to catch pretty much all of it in the bucket.  That was the last time he puked, thank goodness!

Ready for the drive!

Stopped at Chick-fil-A for supper

We had so much fun at the beach!  Logan and Clara played in the ocean the entire 3 hours we were there. Jumping over waves and running and laughing!  It was the best.  Rory preferred the sand, but liked the water too.  Danny was very skeptical of the water and he HATED when the sand would move under his feet haha.  So the two littles mostly dug and made sand castles with their new toys from Grammy :)  We for sure will need to plan beach trips from now on!

There was a giant shark on the way to the beach and we thought it would make for a great photo spot, so we stopped on our way out! :)

The kids had a great time in primary on Sunday, we got to see Sister Rhoades, and the drive home went a little better than the drive down ;)  We made a pitstop at the Virginia rest stop and had a little photoshoot there too!

The next few days with Grammy were great!  We had a chill day on Monday coloring Mom's hair, then we went to Mattie's Place in Burkes Garden for lunch on Tuesday.  It was absolutely delicious and we got some donuts and eclairs :)  She's Amish and makes everything from scratch.  So so good.  It was quite a lovely day!

I love a good before/after :)

Saying goodbye really is one of the hardest things about living here.  Knowing it's going to be so long before we see each other, realizing how much the kids (especially Henry) will change in just 6 months.  It's hard.  We miss family so much.  It's this weird sort of happy sad.  So so happy to be here and doing the thing we've dreamed of, but hard to not have family here to share in it all. Looking forward to another reunion in December 🤍

The last great thing of the week is a FINISHED playset!  The kids have been in absolute heaven!  Thanks to Grammy and Pop for the perfect birthday gift for the kids!!

Another great week on the homestead :)
